BBSC skateboard after program weekly pick up from school JANUARY - JUNE
For over two decades, BBSC has been teaching skateboarding in New York City with remarkable success. In that time, we’ve introduced more than 1,000 young New Yorkers to the culture, discipline, and freedom of skateboarding. Some of our students have gone on to earn sponsorships and compete in contests; others simply enjoy skating with friends. Every one of them, however, leaves with the same understanding: skateboarding changes you — building resilience, creativity, and confidence that lasts a lifetime.
Skateboarding lives at the intersection of curiosity and courage. It challenges you to confront fear, trust yourself, and express your individuality. There is no single “right” way to skate. Each student develops their own style, focuses on the tricks that inspire them, and grows into their authentic self. At BBSC, self-expression is supported within a tight-knit, family-like community. We guide, encourage, and expose our students to new possibilities — while empowering them to define their own path.
There is no after-school program quite like BBSC. We pick students up in our skate van and head to local skateparks across the city for hands-on instruction and mentorship. Each session is designed to cultivate confidence, independence, and personal growth through movement and mastery.
When the weather doesn’t cooperate, the learning continues. Our students head into the BBSC Art Studio — the “Kool Lab” — where creativity takes center stage. They design and build miniature skateparks, stepping into the roles of architects and engineers. They study skateboarding history, develop their own skate brands from the ground up, create logos, and paint custom decks. These sessions deepen their understanding of skate culture while nurturing imagination, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking.
At BBSC, skateboarding is more than a sport. It’s a vehicle for growth, creativity, and lifelong transformation.
